D’Arvit! goes “Prophetess”… [another one of those D'Arvit!-ed lists]

The D’Arvit!-ed List of Signs that our Country is going to the Dogs:
2006 is the Year of the Dog. *gasp* OMG-WTF-BBQ! That’s so effin’ literal!
Vilma Santos hints that she’s got plans to run for Vice-President in the next elections. Says the shedevil, “Ay, hinde, hindi ko pa iniisip ang politics..wala pa yun.. pero one of those [options] pa lang yun! One of those pa lang!” Que horror!
Stupid GMA telefantasia Encantadia gets a spin-off. What’s that new show I’ve seen on the GMA website? “Etheria” or something? Arrgh. Would it be great if I told the guys at TheOneRing.net about how a Filipino fantasy soap opera imitated WETA’s and Peter Jackson’s LOTR designs and concepts? Oh, it just might add to the shame and bad press…I better not. We’ve had a small discussion on this in Tolkien Philippines and they all agree that Encantadia’s costumes, set designs, and concepts suspiciously resemble LOTR’s. It’s irritating and infuriating.. But I can’t do anything but rant. Whatever happened to Filipino ingenuity and creativity?
Talks of Pacquiao running for Office. Yeah, sure, make Pacquiao the President, then elect Ate Vi as your Vice-President, and make all the winners of StarStruck members of the Parliament. And German “Kuya Germs” Moreno would be Prime Minister. And then Ramos would be a political prisoner. Nice. Way to go, Mother Country! [sarcasm here]
Showbiz Talk Shows feed on theatrics and trash. Since my Mom insists that we watch Star Talk or S-Files via GMA7’s Inq7.net Video Archives, I had no choice but to obey and click on the links. In one of those showbiz TV tabloids, a dispute between an actor and his female noontime TV show co-host was featured, follwed by the actress’ incoherent and unintelligible defense, laced with theatrics and TV trash make-up. One of her quotable quotes [that I'm sure will end up in Nestor U. Torre's Boob-tube Booboos]:
“I apologized naman to the stop.”
[Staff, not "stop"!]
Niiice. The actress was crying and pleading to the audience, portraying her underdog role in a totally lousy manner. Way to go, Pilipino!
Coup d’etat. Self-explanatory.
Netspeak and Text Lingo on the Loose. Bastardization of Language is getting more rampant as each day passes! I don’t know why people find it oh-so-cute to tYpE lYk diSszz and to say “po” [or worse, "pu"] to people their age. How would you feel, if in say, 30, or 40 years down the line, your old highschool or college buddies would write to you this way:
hI mzztah n pu??! my apO n plA kuH!! ahihihi… naNGanakk n c jHuNioR kuH e!!! pNta nmAn u d2 s PGH pArA mkitAh c kYUt Bheybi”

I might be back on March 22. We won’t pass by LA anymore, I’m not yet sure.
I’ll go out every night when I get there..haha! I’ve been deprived for so long, *LoL*. And anyway, I’ll be hitting the books on May and once I start going to school.. tuloy-tuloy na yan ’til June of next year.
I feel refreshed and well-rested.
I can’t wait!

Speaking of the Chinese New Year, I stumbled on a blog owned by two Chinese dormitory boys who have nothing else to do but lip synch music videos. Nothing too spectacular or funny anyway since anyone could look as funny/ridiculous.. But anyway check ‘em out.
