Sorry, Frank…
…but I just thought I had to share this secret to all my girls out there. Here’s a plug for you: http://postsecret.blogspot.com :)

I am so proud of her, whoever she is.
Please girls… DON’T be pressured to have a boyfriend! Because you know what? You don’t need one if you keep looking for one [this just shows how much you're NOT ready for a relationship]! The more you show that you’re looking for a boyfriend, the MORE the guys would get scared of you! The more you keep whoring yourself out on all of them, the MORE that they’ll disrespect you.
It’s that simple: respect yourself first. Love yourself first. And later on, it’ll come. Don’t whore yourself out… because you’re always at the losing end.
Please don’t tell me you’re desperate, because that’s the LOWEST that you could ever go. Don’t keep on searching for it, because it’ll never come to you that way.
I’m 19.
I’ve never kissed a boy.
I’ve never been on a date. Okay, I still won’t call a chaperoned date a date.
Not even casual lunch or coffee because we paid for our own stuff.
I’ve never had a boyfriend.
I’ve never been in love.
I’ve never been loved [people crushing on you isn't equal to real love].
And yes, I’m very happy.
[Oh, and I'm NOT some feminist femme/lesbian! I'm perfectly straight, fyi!]
Many girls I know and have met are all lamenting the fact that they have never been romantically involved with a guy [due to being in exclusive private schools for girls, I assume], and when they get to college, they let loose and tackle the first one who winks at them. Sometimes though, they’re not even from all-girls’ schools.
I had a conversation with an old colleague a few weeks ago–let’s call her Lisa–and it went ugly. Really ugly [in my opinion, at least]. This is how it went:
Lisa: Hey, so you got any guys around you? Dating anyone? Any suitors? I bet you’ve got plenty!
Me: Uhm…. NONE.
Lisa: Seriously?
Me: Yup, I’m serious. Nobody, and nothing special.
Lisa: You should transfer to another school where guys outnumber the girls. Maybe you’ll find a bunch of cuties there. Lol.
Me: No thanks, I didn’t come here to find a guy. I came here to get an education.. and get rich in the process!

Lisa: Oh well. I wonder why don’t I have a boyfriend yet?? All the girls around me would get linked to somebody and not even one guy would care to talk to me!!! I talk to them, but they don’t notice me!!!
Me: Maybe you’re trying too hard.
Lisa: I need a boyfriend! My biological clock is ticking!
Me: How old are you?
Lisa: 18.
Me: You’re not supposed to worry about biological clocks at 18.
Lisa: But anyway I told myself that I don’t need a boyfriend–yet
Me: Then that’s it. Go wait. Go on with your life. You don’t need a guy. And.. Guys hate boy-crazy girls.
Lisa: I’M NOT BOY-CRAZY!!!
Me: Whatever.
Lisa: But I can’t help asking WHY?? Why don’t I have ANYONE yet??? Is there something wrong with me?? Am I ugly?? Am I fat?? C’mon Pam, tell me what you think… Pam? Hello?
BUZZ!
BUZZ!

you currently appear invisible to lisa.
you have chosen to appear permanently invisible to lisa.
[END OF CONVERSATION]
I just have to laugh each time I recall that stupid Y!M conversation.
Please please please… Girls, please get some sense knocked into your heads!
Out!
D’Arvit!
PS: If ever I offended anyone.. you can simply leave a comment. Or maybe you know my YM id. Just please, please, say so.
PPS: My trip back there this December won’t push through. I didn’t book a flight early, that’s why I ran out of cheap airfare. Maybe I’ll get back there next May or June. Hey, maybe I can celebrate my 20th [gasp!!!!] birthday there. ![]()

[...] PS: Thanks for the great response to my last blog entry. I never expected that people still read my stuff, since you guys are now back and busy as ever. [...]
Great insights pam! I love your thoughts. It just goes to show how some women need not enter a realtionship to feel complete. Btw, I liked how you used the word, “whoring”. It’s pretty apt. Miss you pam!
